The Zimbabwe Republic Police says the atmosphere is calm nationwide even if there is little activity in the city centre.
Police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba told ZBC News that they have not recorded any incidences of violence countrywide.
She added that there were instances whereby some people barricaded roads along the Harare-Bulawayo road near the Kuwadzana round-about and in Ruwa.
She, however, said the barricades which included stones and burning tyres, were removed.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Charamba added that police will continue patrolling the roads to maintain peace and order.
She urged commuter omnibus operators to release their vehicles as a number of people who want to go about their businesses are stranded due to lack of transport.
