HARARE - First Lady Grace Mugabe, has called for former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair to be hauled before the International Criminal Court (ICC), in the Hague for the war crimes he is accused of committing in Iraq.
A fired up Grace who had taken a back-seat from combative politics, last week during a Zanu PF rally in the capital tore into Blair's record on Iraq, while also dismissing former vice president, Joice Mujuru, as a demon and failed politician who cannot think for herself.
"Iye zvino makazvinzwa, Baba waigara wachitaura kuti Tony Blair is a liar. Vanhu wakati unonyepa but Baba was very right. He was just spot on, because iye Tony Blair iro week rinoiri akabvuma kuti ndakaita mistake. Nyangwe ukaita apologise zvichabetserei? Iraq is burning, zvichabetserei? Mugabe was just spot on, because just this week Tony Blair has admitted his mistake" said Grace. "Even if Blair makes an apology now what is it going to help achieve? Iraq is burning, it's not going to help. You murdered an innocent person, together with his family. What is now useful is that Blair must be hauled before the Hague for trial. There is nobody above the law under the sun. We cannot have the Hague, existing to place only African leaders on trial. Blair must face the Hague for his lies.")
The First Lady said Zimbabweans must not be deceived by foreign detractors, who are hostile to Zanu PF, and are bent on destroying the country's economy by sponsoring stay-aways and unnecessary industrial action, while they go ahead to advance their own economies.
Grace warned that people must not be fooled, citing Washington for misleading the people of Iraq, that their leader, the fallen autocrat, Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.
"Vanhu vakafurirwa, we must take a cue from what has happened kune Libya, KuIraq, Eqypt nedzimwe nyika. Vakange vachitaurirwa iwo kuti Saddam akaipa, Saddam akauurayiwa zvese nemhuri yake. Iyezvino kuIraq hakuna peace. Mabhomba anenge achingoputika, izvozvi nditori neSure kuti zvandirikutaura kudai kutori nerimwe bhomba ririkutopukita izvozvi, vanhu wachichema. Vakafurirwa nemaAmericans kuti Saddam ane weapons of mass destruction." (People were fooled, we must take a cue from what has happened to Libya, Iraq, Egypt and other nations. They were told that Saddam was a bad leader," she said.
" Saddam was brutally murdered together with his family, and now there is no peace in Iraq. Bombs are always exploding, and people are crying. They were deceived by the Americans, that Saddam was having weapons of mass destruction."
