A Zanu PF politburo member says the issuance of residential stands to youths in urban areas is not a political gimmick, as the process is a way of addressing urban accommodation challenges.

Zanu PF deputy secretary for youth affairs, Kudzai Chipanga said those skeptical about the programme are only fooling themselves, the same way pessimists viewed the land reform programme, which some believed was a political gimmick at inception.

Chipanga said this in the Madzimoyo Area, Tengwe, in Hurungwe East while giving feedback to youths on the one million man march held in Harare in May.

He also called for the regularisation of mining activities being carried out by youths throughout the country with a view to finding a way of ensuring the gold mined is sold to Fidelity Printers and Refiners.

Hurungwe East legislator and Zanu PF Women's League Secretary for Finance, Sarah Mahoka who also attended the same meeting appealed to the Ministry of Lands and Rural Resettlement officials to expeditiously resolve land ownership disputes which have seen most youths being displaced from pieces of land they have been occupying for some time.

Meanwhile, Zanu PF youths have been commended for ignoring calls to take part in recent disturbances linked to the failed shut downs.
