Kasukuwere 'issues out residential stands illegally'

Harare Residents Trust has said the desperate home seekers being resettled by Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister Saviour Kasukuwere and other errant Members of Parliament in Harare should be aware that their stands are illegal, and they have no one to blame when they are evicted.
The trust said housing delivery influenced by openly partisan considerations should be discouraged at all costs. If the intention of the ruling Zanu PF is to give houses to its supporters, they should never hide behind the veil of official government offices to undermine local authorities in their administration and governance of urban local authorities.
"The Harare Residents' Trust is saddened by ongoing housing allocations to Zanu PF youths in and around Harare City Council's area of jurisdiction," said the trust.
"We are fully aware that the issue of housing is a matter of social-economic rights, but the manner in which this matter is being handled violates the Constitution, the Regional, Town and Country Planning Act, the Urban Councils Act among other planning regulations, policies and laws, which are under the oversight of local authorities."
The trust said the fact remains therefore that all land allocations inspired by the desire to win elections in 2018 for any political party are illegal, and the citizens must not allow themselves to be hoodwinked into accepting and occupying such residential stands.
