ZANU PF Member of Parliament for Highfield West, Psychology Maziwisa has said President Robert Mugabe is among a few leaders who have made a genuine and lasting difference in Africa.

"Critics may loath him, but Prez Mugabe is among a few leaders who've made a genuine and lasting difference in Africa in the last 36yrs," he said on Twitter.

Maziwisa said the 92-year-old leader has done his part and citizen should do their own part.

The former Mugabe critic said criticism will take the nation backwards not forwards.

He said: "As citizens we must recognize that we have responsibilities as well as rights. We have a duty to protect rather than ridicule our country."

In response some Twitter users said:

@proud_dissident said "@Hon_Maziwisa his legacy is poverty, corruption, injustice, Gukurahundi, Murambatsvina, bearer cheques and bond notes, to say the least!!"

@MwanaWaJukwa said "@proud_dissident @Hon_Maziwisa The truth cannot be hidden!! From where we are standing you are all viewed as psychopaths and destroyers"

@bbmhlang also reacted saying "@Hon_Maziwisa true he has made a marked difference, how one can lose $15 billion n not arrest even an ant is legendary. I agree"
