Two MDC-T rallies in Zaka and Bikita were on Friday and Saturday respectively disrupted by the police who claimed that Zanu-PF had booked the same venues for their rallies.

The rallies were scheduled at Rutenga Business Centre in Zaka and in Bikita.

Masvingo provincial spokesperson and Zaka Central MP, Harrison Mudzuri confirmed the disruptions.

Mudzuri however dismissed the police argument as baseless.

"We informed the police in time and they pretended as if everything was in order and they even told us that they were processing our application and we did not suspect anything," said Mudzuri.

"So we checked with them on Friday so that we could collect our approval letter and they began to shift goal posts. To our surprise we received a message that the rally had been had cancelled in favour of the Zanu PF event. We would like to know the method they used to justify the Zanu PF rally ahead of our programme," said a dejected
Mudzuri.

Meanwhile, a Zanu PF activist, Abel Maphosa who was serving an 18 year jail term after murdering MDC-T activist Moses Chokuda, was murdered by other inmates at Hwahwa Prison in Gweru on Thursday.

Maphosa was killed by Moses Pedzisai Mahuvava, Wellington Gadzira and Nyasha Masiiwa after refusing to escape from prison.

Maphosa was sentenced to 18 years together with Farai Machaya, Bothwell and Edmore Gana for murdering Chokuda in 2009.

Machaya is the son of Zanu PF's Midlands provincial chairperson.
