President Mugabe has all but secured his candidature as the Zanu-PF candidate meaning it is all but confirmed that he is going to be the party's life President, Daily News reported.
With indications the earliest Zimbabwe can hold elections is 2013, it means that Zanu-PF will present President Mugabe at 89 as its presidential candidate.
Zanu-PF secretary for administration Didymus Mutasa said there will not be any succession debates at the Bulawayo conference ruling out any chance of surprises.
Meanwhile, elections to choose a substantive chairman for Zanu-PF Mash West province have been set for Saturday at Chinhoyi University of Science and Technology.
In a statement to District Co-ordinating Committees and Provincial executive members yesterday, Zanu-PF national political commissar, Webster Shamu, said those who wanted to contest should submit their names and curriculum vitaes to the party's commissariat department before end of business today.
On an unrelated event, war veterans leader Jabulani Sibanda yesterday described Zanu-PF stalwarts fingered in leaked US diplomatic cables as "known party sell-outs" and likened them to lice. He said "we will deal appropriately with those lice."
