Lack of leadership a serious challenge for Zim

A Political commentator Ngqabutho Nicholas Mabhena has lamented that there is a serious leadership crisis in Zimbabwe a development which has ground the country's economy.
Mabhena said the biggest challenge Zimbabwe has today, is lack of leadership.
"It's time that those who have been in government since the 80s (now in opposition ) and those who have been at the helm of the opposition since 1999, call it quits and allow young leadership to take over," he said.
"Some of our leaders have a terrible past, and will never unite our nation around a common agenda. Some of us believe that, the new political leadership should emerge from the # social movements. Unfortunately, young people in the # social movements are only brave in getting themselves arrested than in leading a broad leftist movement that will send this regime to its political grave. Our current leaders in the opposition have run out of political steam."
He said they lead political parties that have no grassroots structures.
"Just like Zanu (PF) , they use patronage to stay in power (life opposition Presidents ). One thing l like about the ANC in South Africa, is that, the ANC branch is the basic unity, something missing in all opposition parties in Zimbabwe. If we are to end the Zanu (PF) misrule, let us allow new thinking and young leadership at the highest level of our opposition parties," he said.
