Suspended Bulawayo deputy mayor Gift Banda has declared he is unmoved by Zanu PF youths who demonstrated at his controversial property at Ascot Race Course on Monday.

A handful of youths waved placards, singing, denouncing Banda.

But the MDC-T provincial chair laughed off the protesters.

"I am not moved at all. Why they were quiet for so long is because before I bought this land, there was an advert which was placed in local newspapers and no one objected to my proposal," he said.

Banda was suspended late September by Local Government minister Saviour Kasukuwere.

That was after Banda was in May last year granted permission by council to buy 3,5 hectares of land valued at $130,000 for construction of residential flats at Ascot Race Course.

However, there was an outcry as to how he got the land.

MDC-T has since set up a probe squad onto the corruption allegations.

Said National spokesperson, Obert Gutu :"We are very much concerned by the allegations and we set up a committee to conduct an investigation into the matter.

"As a party, we have zero tolerance to corruption and we will do a thorough investigation and afford those accused to make their own representations".
