Independent candidate for Norton constituency Themba Mliswa this Saturday hired thugs to disrupt the Zanu PF rally at Ngoni Stadium in Norton resulting in the police intervening by throwing teargas to control the situation.

Themba Mliswa who is vying for the Norton constituency seat that was left vacant after the expulsion of Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa from Zanu PF party led a team of party supporters and hooligans that temporally disrupted the Zanu PF rally that was addressed by Zanu PF Secretary for Youth Affairs Kudzai Chipanga.

The rowdy youths led by Mliswa burnt the ZESA transformer at Ngoni Stadium with the arrival of the police stabilising the situation.

Chipanga condemned the rowdy behaviour by Mr Mliswa stating that nothing will distract Zanu PF from reclaiming the Norton constituency.

He said the allocation of stands to the youths which started this Saturday (today) in Norton will see a total of 5 000 youths in the constituency being afforded a chance to own land in the city.

Chipanga who was updating party members on the youth league programmes said the youth empowerment drive will be a success since it is led by a leader who have fought and won many battles.

Youths who were allocated stands in fulfillment to the promise by President Robert Mugabe were happy saying it is a dream come true as most of them never thought of owning a house in the city.

Melvin Mwanza who was part of the Zanu PF youths attacked by the rowdy Mliswa led youths was in agony and narrated how the group of hooligans attacked the party supporters.

Zanu PF members who attended the rally expressed their support for President Mugabe while giving assurance that the party's candidate for Norton constituency Ronald Chindedza will win resoundingly in the forthcoming by-elections.
