A village head in Mudzi North ward 1 is reported to be forcing villagers to contribute some money towards the ruling Zanu PF conference scheduled for Masvingo in December.
Heal Zimbabwe Trust has reported that on 2 November 2016, Village head Faison Tonde sent people to move in the area demanding that community members contribute $0.50 cents towards the Zaniu PF conference to be held in Masvingo in December 2016," said the trust.
The trust said on the same day, the Village head also stormed the house of Wayson Makazhu, an MDC T supporter in the area and told him that he had received a report that he was refusing to pay the money. Village head Tonde told Makazhu that since he was a war veteran, he was going to mobilise Zanu PF youths to force him to pay the money.
"Village head Tonde was also quick to remind Makazhu that he should never forget what happened to him in 2008 when Zanu PF youths heavily assaulted him for supporting the MDC-T. After the confrontation, Makazhu fled his homestead as a result of these threats. He also made a police report at Nyamapanda police station but no arrests have been made," said the trust.
