While the Peace Bell was rung at the UN headquarters and the inscription Long Live Absolute World Peace swayed with the bell. Countless Individuals wore the White Peace Doves and some governments renewed their commitment to Peace.

This was the commemoration of the 30thn Anniversary of the International Day of Peace.

The MDC Bulawayo youth Assembly joined the commemorations with a wounded heart bleeding with the blood from the sharp arrows of the vile Mugabe regime as we were mourning the incarceration of their leadership comprising of Chairman Jackson Lunga, National Secretary for Political Education Andrew Nyathi, Treasurer Sharlene Ndlovu, Mandlenkosi Sibanda, Siamatende Dick Munsaka, Clever Sibanda, Mthulisi Nkiwane, Sharlene Ndlovu, Lillian Moyo, Joseph Ndlovu.

Our leadership that was not only brutally tortured by the Zimbabwe National Army but were also unjustifiable thrown to the notorious Khami Prison on flimsy grounds, their sole crime being a campaign for a just and a fair Zimbabwe.

The ruling by the magistrate in denying our comrades bail is a mockery to justice and amounts to sentencing our leadership without trial. The illegal, arrest and torture of our comrades by the combined force of ZNA and the ZRP is a clear sign of the regime's readiness to close all democratic space and is renewing its commitment to crushing all forms of opposition to the evil regime.

The unwarranted and unjustified prolonged incarceration of our Leadership is no different from the Gukurahundi repression

As the world celebrates the World Peace Day, the MDC Bulawayo Youth Assembly would like to commit itself to non-violent struggle against the Mugabe regime till a Fair and Just Zimbabwe is established. We don't carry guns and great artillery like angels of death but however we are convinced that our determination is mightier that a million weapons of war. Victory is certain.
