Binga North - MDC leader Welshman Ncube on Saturday said it is painful to see the people of Binga living in abject poverty while the district is blessed with abundant wealth in natural resources that benefit people from other provinces.

Ncube said this while addressing a rally in Nagaangala, Binga North where over seven thousand MDC supporters.

The MDC leader vowed that after the next election if the MDC assumes state power its first priorities will  be to make sure that the people of Zimbabwe benefit from their resources, and the people of Binga need to be the first to do so.

He said that the district has to benefit from fisheries in Zambezi River, the conservancies around the district and other resources that are benefiting people that are connected to Zanu-PF.

"This place (Binga District) is very rich in natural resources, the Zambezi River has the biggest dam in the country that produces fish and electricity, here you neither have electricity or benefit from the sale of the fish. No government that has the welfare of the people at heart will allow this record exploitation of its people for 32 years. Zanu-PF is treating you like second class citizens in your own country. The MDC government will reverse that," said Prof Ncube.

He went on to say the inclusive government has provided the platform for the people of Zimbabwe to judge the MDC delivery capacity.

He said it is through the Minister of Education, Sports and Culture David Coltart that the party has demonstrated its commitment to make sure Tonga language is treated equal to other languages through provision of Tonga textbooks at primary school level.

Prof Ncube said "This party has the capacity to deliver, judge us through our work in the inclusive government. It is this party that had to make sure the children get Tonga textbooks for the first time in our history. Our school children will sit for Tonga exams. We respect your values and culture. We don't want children at primary level to be taught by people who don't understand local languages, our children must be taught by Tonga speaking teachers here."
