In an incident reminiscent of scenes in African movies, the Siyamatenga family in Binga reportedly failed to bury their father for three consecutive days.
The incident that sends shivers down the spine transpired last week in Binga's Kalongwizi Village under Chief Dokola. Sources told our news crew that every time the pallbearers lowered the coffin, water would mysteriously emerge and fill the grave to the brim. They tried to bury the deceased for three days since last Friday to no avail.
It could not be established at the time of going to Press if the burial had finally taken place. According to a reliable source who is a close relative to the now deceased Karakati Siyamatenga, he said his late uncle Twalumba had notified them that he wanted to be buried in his ancestral home area in Kitwe, Zambia but they refused.
"It was my uncle's wish to be laid to rest in his home area where his forefathers were also buried but our finances did not permit. That is why we decided to bury him in Binga and little did we know that this would haunt us. This incident has created divisions within the family. Some are of the idea that we take him to Kitwe and some are adamant that we bury him here. Some villagers and relatives have since distanced themselves from the strange funeral citing that our family is feud," he said.
The now deceased migrated from Zambia in search of greener pastures and settled in Siyabuwa before he moved to Kalongwiri.
