A 28-year-old Inyathi man was reportedly found dead on the side of a road in a suspected hit and run accident.
The man, Mhlonitshwa Sibanda of Badala area Inyathi district under Chief Mtshane Khumalo, who was allegedly on his way home from the Badala beerhall, sustained a broken right collar bone, swollen right shoulder and a torn shirt.
Matabeleland North police spokesperson Inspector Billie Dube yesterday confirmed the incident saying the body of the deceased was ferried to Inyathi District hospital for post-mortem.
He said the accident happened on Thursday last week along Inyathi-Insiza road one kilometre before Inyathi turn off.
"Sibanda was reported to have been drinking beer and left the Badala beer hall on his way home alone at around 10pm where he was suspected to have been hit by a vehicle," said Insp Dube.
He said the deceased was found by Mr Sam Sibanda (38) who was driving from Mahamba Business Centre travelling towards Badala Business Centre.
"Mr Sam Sibanda came across the body of the deceased lying along the side of the road, stopped his vehicle to investigate, then made a report to the Inyathi police base," said Insp Dube.
He appealed to members of the public in the identification of the driver responsible of the hit and run accident.
"We are appealing for information that will assist in the investigation of this case in terms of the identification of the driver.
"We urge members of the public to use path ways when walking in order to avoid unnecessary loss of life," said Insp Dube
