It certainly never rains for the Welshman Ncube led MDC but it pours.

The party's former Member of Parliament for Mangwe Edward Mkhosi, has all but resigned from the MDC.

Speaking to studio 7 on Monday evening, Mkhosi announced that he was resigning from the party if the party fails to recall Secretary General Priscilla Misihairabwi Mushonga from representing Matebeleland South in parliament.

This is effectively a resignation by the veteran politician as he knows fully well that the party leadership has resisted all other previous calls for the recall of Mushonga.

Mkhosi's resignation comes immediately after former Insiza South legislature Siyabonga Malandu Ncube also resigned from the party 24 hours earlier for the same reason.

Mkhosi is the fifth high ranking official to leave the party in recent weeks.

Former Beitbridge legislature and Gwanda Municipality alderman and Matebeleland South Chairman Petros Mukwena was dismissed by the party for voicing on the same issue.

He was followed by the dismissal also of former Bulawayo Municipal alderman Charles Mpofu for the same reason.

Party policy director Qhubani Moyo also quit the party in recent weeks choosing to be diplomatic in giving his reasons but hinted the party's failure to live by its policy of devolution of power.

In his statement Mkhosi who was the party co chairman to the Constitution Making Committee, indicated that he was failing to understand how Mushonga violets the very devolution of power principle which she personally led the campaign for its inclusion in the constitution.

The principle according to Mkhosi, demands that people from an area be given the priority to run their own area.

Mkhosi indicated that he does not therefore understand how Mushonga would leave his home area of Harare and come and take over the running of Matebeleland South as if there were no capable people in the province.

It however remains unclear how much time Mkhosi has given the party to act on his threat to resign. Mkhosi only indicated that he had already given the party leadership more than enough time to consider recalling Mushonga as they have had several meetings with the party presidency but to no avail.
