A section of women from the troubled MDC led by Professor Welshman Ncube is on Friday evening holding a prayer meeting seeking divine intervention over 'speedy resolution' over its secretary general Priscilla Misihairabwi Mushonga.

Misihairabwi Mushonga is under pressure to step down as party parliamentary representative for Umzingwane.

Sources within the party told ZimbabweFocus that a prayer meeting is on tonight.

"Women in the party have resolved to hold a prayer meeting over SG (Misihairabwi-Mushonga).

"It's planned to start around 5pm at party offices in Bulawayo.

"They want SG to step down in Umzingwane" said a reliable source.

The party has been in recent months rocked by expulsion and resignations of senior members of Misihairabwi-Mushonga.

Last month, its provincial chairman Petros Mukwena was fired.

Last week, the party expelled outspoken former Bulawayo councilor Alderman Charles Mpofu for bringing the name of the party into disrepute among other charges. Over the weekend, former Insiza South MP Siyabonga Malandu Ncube also resigned from the party citing irreconcilable differences with leadership.

The party has also lost its chief of International Relations Sondon Mugaradzikwa who resigned saying he needs time to concentrate on academic studies.
