Zanu-PF has won two of the three council by-elections held on Saturday. It reclaimed the Ward 12 seat in Harare's Mbare-Sunningdale constituency, which the party lost to the MDC-T in 2000, and Karoi's ward 10.
Results of another by-election in Zaka's Ward 32 are yet to be announced.
In Harare's Ward 12, Zanu-PF's elected candidate, Maureen Nyemba said the result is an indication that the people want a change of leadership in local authorities where the MDC-T has failed to deliver.
Nyemba got 846 votes against the MDC-T's Albert Muponda who polled 835, with NCA's Takura Gadzikwa receiving a mere 76 votes.
In Karoi's Ward 10, Zanu-PF's Fortunate Madamombe polled 725 votes against MDC-T's Chiwaya Solomon Musekiwa, who got 226.
The election results were announced by ZEC Provincial Officer for Mashonaland West province, Mr Kenneth Kwaramba who said the poll was incident free.
The Karoi by-election was held following the death of Ward 10 councillor, Susan Bhero.
The Zanu-PF victory comes on the backdrop of last year's July 31 polls which saw the party getting over two thirds majority in parliament, while President Robert Mugabe won the presidential race with over 61 percent of the total votes.
