Members of the Movement for Democratic Change led by Professor Welshman Ncube have expressed their disgruntlement with their leader's continued "quiet diplomacy" silence.

Members of the party in Bulawayo and Gwanda have expressed extreme dissatisfaction with Ncube's continued silence since the elections last July. The members claim that they are no longer happy with Ncube's silence and absence from public on claims that he is still consulting and planning eight months since the elections.

"We are now really getting worried with the President's silence while at the same time leaders are leaving the party," said a member from Bulawayo.

"What is worrying most is that while we the members still believe in the party, the people in leadership positions are leaving the party which makes us think that perhaps things are bad in the meetings they are sitting," he added.

Since the July 31 elections the MDC has lost a lot of their members in leadership positions to rival MDC T or ZANU PF. Notable departees are party Director of Policy Qhubani Moyo who went to work within ZANU PF information ministry department. The entire Chikomba Central executive defected en mass to MDC T, former legislators Siyabonga Malandu and Edward Mukhosi rejoined the MDC T.

As if that wasn't enough the entire Bulawayo youth executive left the party. Losing candidates for Manicaland joined the MDC T and just yesterday, Bulawayo Province Spokesman left on his way to MDC T. Matabeleland South former chairman Petros Mukwena was also fired from the party so was the late Alderman Charles Mpofu. Party elders Ephat Mdlongwa and Paul Themba Nyathi are also reported to be in on going talks with the MDC T to join them along Malandu and Mkhosi.

A member in the Matabeleland South youth executive but based in Bulawayo also expressed her disappointment at the mass leadership exodus and continuous silence by the party leadership.

"Prof (Professor Ncube) is really letting us down by remaining quiet amongst all these activities and we are no longer sure if he still wants the party to exist or not. If not he has to just resign and allow someone active to take over and move the party forward," she said.
