A married Shurugwi South member of parliament, Tapiwanashe Matangaidze picked up a bar stool and threatened a potential client in a nasty bar brawl over an alleged Midlands State University (MSU) lady of the night.

According to the ZimEye, the Zanu-PF legislator Matangaidze, a former Premier Soccer League (PSL) Chairperson and prominent businessman, pulled away the prostitute in the arms of another client in a crowded local night club in Gweru, witnesses said.

The undisclosed commercial sex worker had a previous run-in with the legislator, according to regulars at the Down town night club. It is alleged after both were ordered out of the bar, the competitor teamed up with friends leading to Matangaidze taking off at a high speed.

In the process, Matangaide is said to have knocked down a drunken man, Blessed Mapundu while fleeing. The news crew visited the Gweru Hospital where and talked at length with the seemingly agonised Mapundu.

This reporter witnessed that Mapundu was critically injured after being allegedly run over by the fleeing Matangaidze on Saturday morning.

Police sources said the incident happened around 3.30 am when Ford Ranger AC18774 hit Mapundu, who was then drunk, near Uptown Night Club.

Matangaidze is said to have been briefly arrested and detained in police cells.

However, Police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Goko declined to comment. Matangaidze denied the allegation hence declining to state his version of what transpired.
