Zanu-PF orders farm invaders to vacate or face eviction

The government has told people who illegally resettled themselves on farms in Matabeleland North Province to immediately vacate or face eviction.

The Minister of State for Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs, Cain Mathema told reporters that they have held a meeting as the Provincial Lands Committee and resolved that those who occupied pieces of land without proper documents should leave.

Minister Mathema expressed concern over people who are invading farms in the province on the pretext that they are from Zanu-PF, saying the party is disciplined and can not be associated with such people.

The development comes after the directive by the Minister of Lands and Rural Resettlement, Dr Douglas Mombeshora that there should be accountability on the farms.

Reports indicate that even holders of offer letters have been on the receiving end as their farms have been invaded.

After the land audit, the province will be carrying out a programme to redistribute land equally.
