Matabeleland South Provincial Executive has passed a vote of no confidence on the Provincial Chairman, Andrew Langa, accusing him of fanning factionalism in the party and insulting the First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe.

The motion was moved by Bulilima West legislator, Mathius Ndlovu through a petition and seconded by Mangwe legislator, Obedingwa Mguni before 31 out of 51 members of the executive council backed the ouster of Langa.

Ndlovu said Langa should leave his post with immediate effect and the Deputy Chairman, Rapelani Choene was chosen as the Provincial Acting Chairperson.

The chairperson of the war veterans association, Never Ncube also denounced Langa for aligning himself with a faction which is against the First Lady, Dr Mugabe and sidelining war veterans.

Contacted for comment, Langa dismissed his ouster describing it as a joke of the year for the nation.

The dismissal of Langa went ahead despite efforts by Politburo member, Abigail Damasane to block any discussions about Langa during a special Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting held in Gwanda today.

Prior to the meeting, violence broke out when some Zanu-PF supporters marching in protest against Langa received a backlash from the ousted Chairman's sympathisers.
