Zanu-PF minister's son apologises for violence

GWANDA- MATABELELAND South Provincial Affairs minister Abedinico Ncube's son, Emmanuel, who went berserk last Tuesday and slapped a Home Affairs employee at the Gwanda passport office will not have to answer to assault charges after the complainant withdrew the case on Friday following an apology.
According to a local daily, Emmanuel apologised to Tiny Ndlovu, leading to the withdrawal of the case.
Emmanuel was seen driving into Gwanda Police Station in the company of Ndlovu late Friday afternoon, where they stayed for a few minutes before Ndlovu was dropped at his workplace.
It could not be established how police had failed to arrest Emmanuel on Tuesday, the day a report was made, until the case was withdrawn on Friday.
Numerous calls to get comment from the police since the incident happened were fruitless as they continuously dodged questions about the case.
It was alleged that last Monday, Emmanuel arrived at the Gwanda passport offices in the company of a female colleague who wanted to apply for an urgent passport and was met by Ndlovu, who advised him to join the queue.
This did not go down well with the minister's son.
However, the two were quickly served and the applicant was advised to proceed into the offices, while Emmanuel was ordered to remain outside.
This further infuriated Emmanuel, who wanted to accompany his friend throughout the whole process.
On Tuesday, Emmanuel bumped into Ndlovu outside the passport offices and confronted him on why he had disrespected him the previous day.
While Ndlovu was explaining to him that he was only performing his duties, Emmanuel struck him with the back of his hand on the left cheek.
Ndlovu, who complained of a sore ear following the assault, made a report to the police
