FORMER National Healing, Reconciliation and Integration co-minister , a veteran of the 1970s liberation war and a retired educationist has been appointed acting secretary-general of the Welshman Ncube-led MDC, taking over from Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga who quit the post recently.
Misihairabwi Mushonga, a National Assembly member for Umzingwane through proportional representation, will however hold onto Parliamentary seat despite the party's Matabeleland South province pushing for her recall.
Misihairabwi-Mushonga resigned from the post following a reported fallout with Ncube and some party members.
"The MDC national standing committee (NSC) confirmed Mzila Ndlovu, the deputy secretary-general, as acting secretary-general with immediate effect, in keeping with the party constitution," Nhlanhla Dube, the MDC spokesperson said in a statement to the media.
The MDC's national standing committee met in Bulawayo at the weekend.
