Zanu-PF Matabeleland South Province has been commended for being amongst the most organised provinces amid calls for the political leadership to consolidate and further strengthen party structures.
The party's Secretary for Science and Technology, Professor Jonathan Moyo, who is leading a high level team to audit and verify party structures in the province, said Zanu-PF's resounding victory in the 2013 elections in Matabeleland South is a true reflection of the state of the party which he described as excellent.
He said part of the mandate of the team will be to see that where structures have not been constituted at cell and branch levels, these are formed.
There are currently over 1400 cells in the seven districts of Matabeleland South Province.
Professor Moyo said the meeting held in Gwanda also discussed logistical arrangements for the verification exercise starting today.
In Beitbridge, the team will be led by Goodwill Shiri and in Gwanda, Any Mhlanga will be in charge.
Joshua Saaco is the team leader for Insiza, Lewis Matutu for Umzingwane, while Paddy Zhanda and Philip Chiyangwa will lead the teams in Matobo and Bulilima respectively.
Daniel McKenzi Ncube is the team leader for Mangwe.
Meanwhile, Zanu-PF Harare Province will hold its Provincial Co-ordinating Committee meeting tomorrow.
Acting Harare Provincial Chairperson, Goodwills Masimirembwa said the province embarked on a massive restructuring of all the 174 districts from the lower tiers of the revolutionary party starting at cell, branch and district levels and they are now ready for the audit and verification exercise.
In Harare, Politburo member, Dr Obert Mpofu will lead a team comprising some Central Committee members in the restructuring exercise.
