Man ties wife onto a tree, 'sjamboks' her for denying him sex

A man from Inyathi, Phulani Ncube, fed up with her wife's sex ban on him, tied her onto a tree and thoroughly whipped her.
On July 3, Ncube aged 40 went to his homestead around 8 pm and accused his wife Stella Khuphe aged 28 of constantly denying him sex for several months.
"Ncube seized his wife by the throat and tied her to a tree. After that he beat her thoroughly with a sjambok and she sustained severe cuts," magistrate Stephen Ndlovu heard.
"As a result of the thorough hiding, his wife was ferried to Inyathi District Hospital for treatment."
Ncube told the court that he whipped Khuphe out of anger.
"I did that out of anger. My wife has been denying me my conjugal rights for the past four months while I paid bride price.
"Your Worship due to that denial I became angry and I suspect she is in love with someone because she does not answer her phone in my presence. At tine she moves away or cuts the phone call," said Ncube.
He pleaded not guilty and is out of custody to 28 July for trial.
