New farmer up for destroying bush through fire

A MAN from Trenance in Bulawayo is in trouble after he set fire that destroyed large track of land at Aisleby Farm in Umguza belonging to another new farmer.
This was heard by Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya when Kudakwashe Matsimbo (32) appeared before him charged with lighting fire which spread and destroyed property worth $1004, 79.
He pleaded guilty to the charge and was remanded out of custody to November 11 for sentence.
The court heard that on October 10 at 9am Matsimbo was at Fletcher Trenance where he was clearing his field using the fire and the fire turned wild and spread across to the Aisleby farm where it destroyed property worth $1 004,79.
The farm belonged to Simon Ndlovu who reported the matter to the police leading to the accused's arrest.
