Zanu-PF Secretary for Education who is also Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Joram Gumbo has been appointed Zanu-PF Midlands interim chairperson for the next three months pending the finalisation of the disciplinary hearings of the three suspended chairmen.

Zanu-PF National Political Commissar Saviour Kasukuwere said Gumbo is taking over leadership on interim bases for the next three months to give the province time to resolve its internal squabbles.

Tapiwanashe Matangaidze who had been acting as provincial chairperson now reverts back to his position as Secretary for Administration while Mackenzie Ncube becomes the deputy chairperson.

Kasukuwere was in the Midlands province following a directive from the politburo that the commissariat department finds a lasting solution to the squabbles in the province.

Speaking during the party's coordinating committee meeting Kasukuwere called for unity and urged all party members to stop squabbles that fuel divisions in the party.

"After three months the province should have proper structures and work towards party mobilisation," said Kasukuwere.

Chairing his first meeting, Gumbo implored party members in the province to bury their personal differences and work together to build party structures.

He said elements bent on causing chaos and mayhem will not be entertained.

Meanwhile, Kasukuwere said all the structures will remain as they were before the suspension of Kizito Chivamba.

Chivamba was suspended alongside Mashonaland East provincial chairman Joel Biggie Matiza and Mavingo provincial chair Ezra Chadzamira.
