Development should be the heart of the nation

26 Jul 2017 at 20:12hrs | Views
My heart bleeds when someone stands up to talk about election or re-election when the previous plan is not yet accomplished.

When you look at Zimbabwe overall you can tell everything has totally collapsed. One thing that I know every leader is evaluated through his hard working.

My main worry is development. Zimbabwe is on the verge of collapsing in fact it has totally collapsed. Since the inception of the current Government we have witnessed a number of economic sectors collapsing under the stewardship of Zanu Pf as the Governing party.

People should not rush to seek votes from ordinary Zimbabweans they should tell us what they have done for the people. It is very unfair to use people and discard them after the election period. I don't think every Zimbabwean be it in opposition politics or ruling party, all they want is to lead this country No No No, and they only need a fair share on the table.

Actually it is very embarrassing to hear someone opening his mouth to talk about election when this country is at the height of collapsing. Banks are empty, policies are very inconsistent, absence of foreign direct investment, no improvement on infrastructure etc. so how do we define development in our current affairs? Do we need a rocket scientist to tell us that all is not well in this country? I'm very amused to see political parties buying posh cars for campaigns, giving people maize seed, other food hand-outs during election period only why? Why not before? Since 2013 people languishing in poverty and there has been significant figure of high school drop outs by failing to pay school fees. Some have gone for days without proper meals and someone still claim re-election. People should give proof of developmental projects first as a sign that they were working hard before they seek re-election of office. The richer get more riches, the poor become poorer.

We have a real problem in Zimbabwe that should be addressed urgently. We don't have meaningful development to talk about. From the onset Zimbabwe has been exporting human resource to other countries, labour and we are getting the least expected service. What has gone wrong? I believe everyone for power and in all their campaign messages it is all about development. So many promises have been done on developmental projects but nothing has materialised.

We have a big project coming (Chirundu - Beitbridge Road) which is expected to commence soon at a total cost of 1.7 billion which is very unrealistic given the notion that feasibility studies done by private experts shows that the total cost is 900 000.00 million United States Dollars, so how do you expect a country to progress when there is so much theft inside the Government? I believe there is need to prove that individuals should work hard so that people can evaluate them. We don't want a situation where same people have been re cycled time and again since 1980, what is it they want to change that has never changed before? This is a big question that people need answers.

I've no problem honestly for Zanu Pf to be re-elected in a more and democratic manner which is credible and transparent but my question is what is it that they want to change that they haven't changed before? You look at our roads they are so bad, instead of bearing the responsibility they shift the blame to MDC T, look at the issue of land question, how many ordinary people benefitted from land? The answer is none. Look at diamonds in Chiadzwa, who looted those diamonds? 15 billion disappeared and nothing happened. Loom at the economy, there is serious cash shortages in the country. We have serious problems and before those issues are attended to, someone is already planning for re-election. Actually my thinking is why campaigning, the best campaign message is to let people judge, evaluate for themselves without being forced or frog marched to attend rallies. It is very unfair to short change people time and again, lying to the people, giving them fake promises which won't happen. In 2013 Zanu Pf, promised 2.2 million jobs and it is a mockery for Psychology Maziwisa to go bragging that they created 2.2 million vendors.
