Zapu never left Zanu PF, but Dabengwa did

Dr. Dumiso Dabengwa, is misrepresenting facts here by claiming that he as Dumiso Dabengwa has withdrawn ZAPU's membership from the unity accord that was entered into and signed by the late Vice President Dr. Joshua Nkomo and President Robert Mugabe.
President Mugabe made an appeal to him and others to return back to ZANU PF.
In an effort of trying to give credence to a very obvious mistake, Dabengwa claims that he did not leave ZANU PF, alone but left as a party (ZAPU) enblock not just himself. He goes on to claim that those former members of ZAPU, who remained in ZANU PF, were there in their individual capacity and not as members of ZAPU.
The Zimbabwe African People's Union (ZAPU) was never at any moment a property of an individual or a company where the owner can decide to declare it insolvent and demand liquidation and be closed.
This is a revolutionary party that fought for the liberation of Zimbabwe, by committing lives. Even Dr. Joshua Nkomo, who was President of ZAPU never behaved as if he owned ZAPU and its members as Dabengwa feels.
Dabengwa is not a signitory to the Unity Accord of 1987, and there is no way he could withdraw ZAPU from that arrangement both legally or even using simple common sence.
Of great interest is what makes him think he is more ZAPU than others including Vice President Joseph Msika whom he ignored whilest he held the position left by Dr. Joshua Nkomo in ZANU PF. Even if Dabengwa dispised the late Joseph Msika for what ever reason, it did not mean he was senior to him or could claim ZAPU leadership.
Why does he think he is more ZPRA than some of us and why was he so much in a hurry to leave ZAPU in unity with ZANU in ZANU PF to form a political party as if it was a project and had to race against time. More revealing was he alliance with Mavhambo.
President Mugabe is simply appealing to him and his friends to come back to the main fold of the party. However his response will reveal who really Dabengwa is. A response of a revolutionary is known and a response from someone under certain pressures is also known.
However it is important for Dr. Dumiso Dabengwa, to consider accepting the appeal by uMuntu oMdala and put all other things anger and pride a side. People should not be carried away when President Mugabe says "ZAPU makes him cry" please analyse this statement objectively not opportunistically and stop feeling important.
The people of Zimbabwe should be aware that Dr. Dabengwa, did not join ZANU PF like many who joined and are still joining, but he was instrumental in the creation and finally formation of ZANU PF, which was a long process that started in Mbeya in 1972, when ZAPU and ZANU formed the Joint Military Command (JMC).
He defended that unity in 1973, in Lusaka Zambia, in an Adhoc Committee of the OAU, when a ZANU, delegation claimed that ZAPU was a sick organisation and demanded that it should be disbanded and its members must join ZANU as individuals.
As Secretary of the Revolutionary Council Dr. Dabengwa was very instrumental in the formation of ZIPA in Mozambique, and in the selection of ZPRA commanders to serve in that command.
Dr. Dabengwa was a delegate when ZAPU and ZANU formed the Patriotic Front on 30 October 1976. He was a member of the commission of inquiry set by the Patriotic Front, to look into the causes that led to the collapse of ZIPA.
When the Patriotic Front was formed, its main objective was to achieve total unity between ZAPU and ZANU to the fusion of the two parties. Dr. Dabengwa was a committee member of one of the various committees to look in all aspects of the unity that was being contemplated by the PF. Dabengwa served in the military committee together with Josiah Tongogara, PV Sibanda and others. The list for Dr. Dabengwa's involvement in the formation of ZANU PF is long.
Dr. Dabengwa is a product of a revolutionary armed struggle. An experienced military commander an experience intelligence officer and political leader, who knows all principles and procedures of leadership, especially how to lead and to be led. Or simple the chain of command.
Only revolutionaries across the board embrace unity.
Reactionaries will promote disunity at all costs. It is no secret that some within ZANU PF especially those from former ZANU who give credence to ZAPU (dd) in order to undermine the unity. They claim that there is no more ZAPU in ZANU PF especially when targeting those positions in the party reserved for members from former ZAPU.
What is important however to him is President Mugabe's appeal to him and his friends to rejoin the party ZANU PF. Its a chance which Dabengwa will not get if he misses it.
