Time for opposition to focus on the feature

I have been reading Morgan Tswangirai's end of year speech.

It is very good in identifying and pointing out all the ills that we are faced with as a country. It is very good at castigating ZANU PF which is sweet music to many ears. But unfortunately all that the speech is doing is being a record with a scratch.

Enough talk of stolen elections, enough talk of legitimacy and enough talk of fresh elections. We all know as of today that no matter how bad the economy gets or how bad governance gets we will not have elections any earlier than August 2018. This continuous raising of people's hopes of an early election is nothing less than fraudulent propaganda.

Its time we tell Zimbabweans the truth that we are married to a ZANU PF government till 2018 and nothing else. Whether this government came by hook or crook its no longer of any relevance now.

Instead of bickering and creating personal glories by trying to remain loud even where "quite diplomacy" is needed is not helping our cause at all.

Right now every reasonably democratic Zimbabwean who is keen of seeing a ZANU PF exit come 2018 is more worried about the opposition restrategising and rebuilding a people's project that will have an indisputable, "unNikuvable" and "unrigable" people's mandate.

The more the opposition leadership goes on building and protecting personal egos the more time ZANU PF gets to shake off its own problems and build up for 2018. There is a straw in the wind already that if the present status prevails ZANU PF is well positioned for yet another "resounding" victory come 2018.

While ZANU PF is battling with economic governance of the country a thing which the opposition should be taking advantage of as was the case in 1999 - 2000, the opposition leaderships are busy building their own individual positions within their parties instead of forging for a more common approach to finish of the already limping ZANU PF.

Our fathers toiled and toiled to remove the same ZANU PF that we are also still running out of ideas to remove. Come 2018 and we fail to do justice to this struggle the next generation will judge us as a bunch of useless loud vessels or toothless bull dogs that failed to finish off a limping prey.

We urgently need a proper plan for a way forward that has the real wishes of the people in mind not personal glories. The earlier this is done the better for this country.
