Now or Never, call for Zimbabwe opposition parties to unite

31 Jan 2014 at 08:37hrs | Views
Suppose disaster would strike today and while parliament is in session the parliament building just gives in and 100 members of parliament die and we are called for land mark by elections would the opposition parties wrestle the seats from Zanu-PF? Obvious NO!!!!

Why I ask this?

Our opposition is so disorganised right now and not at all concerned about the task at hand. Just this last weekend all three council by elections up for grab including one in Mbare were snatched by Zanu-PF. Guess what? It was back to the same old, lousy and irritating cry "Nikuv! Nikuv! Nikuv!" Like small babies.

A revolutionary struggle is not an event but a process and more so a continuous process. This taking time off to concentrate on trifles and personal egos and/or taking forever to recover from an election bashing plus materniting of other little oppositions that result in still births, are all but extremely uncalled for disruptions to the struggle.

A properly organised and focused opposition willing to show a committed cause to "liberate" its people would never behave in the manner we see here. If the mindset is that now its time to squabble on this and that irrelevant issue and people fight to build some little kingdoms of their own then we don't know what we want. If the idea is to seat back and relax and hope for an economic slump or some vis major that will make people hate Zanu-PF then the game plan is lost.

This post election period would have been the perfect moment for opposition to go back to the drawing boards, better off one drawing board, and think of a real people oriented way forward. It is a painful fact that given the current scenario if any election would be called tomorrow in Zimbabwe Zanu-PF would cruise to yet another "resounding victory" not because it is any good but because of the disorganised and out of sorts opposition.

The truth at play right now is that if the current situation in the opposition is not worked on as a matter of urgency, Zanu-PF is very well positioned to not only win the 2018 elections but even the 2023 and we still be hearing the same irritating baby cry. Its like our opposition forgets that it is the general populace that has the vote and they cast their vote based on what has touched their lives in between elections. Zanu-PF is right now on the ground touching people's lives and all the opposition does is stand back and sing "tongai tione" while failing to administer its own houses.

You will never get rid of a lion by starving it but at the same time feeding its cubs, NEVER! People are watching, listening and judging each and every move taken and every statement made and putting it in mind for future reference.

Zimbabweans right now want to see tangible and organised activity not this slogan filled confusion that's being exhibited to them with a belief that they are either too dull to see or so obsessed with some leadership that they won't judge objectively, NO WAYS!!!!

Time is not all yours comrades for you to think it will wait while you play around and say congresses are coming in 2016! By the time you open your eyes you will have been Nikuved again and it shall be an on and on and on thing "kusvika madhongi amira nyanga", its either we want it now or we don't, nothing in between.
