08 Jun 2011 at 11:50hrs | Views
Mavambo.Kusile.Dawn (MKD) Interim President, Simba Makoni, on behalf of MKD, the whole Zimbabwe nation and his own behalf would like to extend his heartfelt condolences to the Tekere family on the untimely death of a true National Hero, Edgar Zivanai Tekere -Two Boy.
The country has lost a genuine nationalist who was fearless, selfless, disciplined, highly principled, incorruptible and a legend in his life whose efforts towards achieving a better Zimbabwe for all will forever be cherished.
MKD applauds the formation of Zimbabwe Unity Movement (ZUM) under Tekere's leadership, which marked the first step in the as yet unfinished long journey to genuine plural politics and multi party democracy in Zimbabwe.
During the March 2008 harmonised elections, Twoboy was one of only very few national political heavyweights who stood solidly in support of Simba Makoni's Independent candidacy for President. We are forever grateful for this patriotic stance from a humble man who was tireless in his quest for democracy.
The late Tekere's life was a struggle as depicted by the title of his book, 'The Struggle is my Life'. He lived true to one of his principles of being incorruptible till his sad passing away. Indeed, a giant has fallen. Go well Two Boy and we hope you have finally found peace.
May your dear departed soul rest in eternal peace.
