Misihairabwi-Mushonga must step down

29 May 2014 at 07:36hrs | Views
Controversial MDC secretary-general Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga should step down with immediate effect if she wants to command respect from party members.

She has proven that she is too greedy and power-hungry and has contributed to the low morale and defection of MDC members.

What Welshman Ncube and Paul Nyathi did to take Misihairabwi-Mushonga from nowhere to Matebeleland South was a disaster for the party.

As inhabitants of Matebeleland South we are therefore demanding her withdrawal from representing us because we have enough people to represent us there as required under devolution.

The Speaker of Parliament and all the members of parliament should not treat Misihairabwi-Mushonga with respect any time she enters Parliament because she does not represent the party or the people of Matebeleland South.

She is a ghost MP imposed by some bedroom friends to represent the people of Matebeleland when she comes from Harare. I say Harare because she does not come from Masvingo as she claims.

The corruption of appointing friends and relatives to a number of positions or commissions like what they did during the inclusive government should stop.

People like Goodwill Shana and Mugadza were appointed on the basis of their relationship to Misihairabwi-Mushonga when the party had a lot of capable people supporting the party everyday.

She chose to send her pastor Shana to the Anti-Corruption Commission against the interest of the party members. Shana is an MDC-T activist not an MDC member at all.

We are aware that if given another chance in the proposed  ‘united front' they will do the same.

Misihairabwi-Mushonga is currently linked to people in the MDC-T renewal team,  something that is not shocking to some of us.

People like Petros Mkwena are better leaders that cannot be chased away from the party by three people who believe are greater than the 'owners' of the party.
