MDC renewal leaders new found zeal for reform is phony

MDC Renewal Team is dispatching a delegation to lobby SADC leaders on the need for free, fair and credible elections in Zimbabwe in future.
"The MDC-Renewal-Team will next month dispatch a high level delegation to the SADC heads of state and government summit to be held in the resort town of Victoria Falls which will present a document on the MDC's demands of holding of future free, fair and undisputed elections in Zimbabwe," the group said in a statement.
"The Renewal Team will be headed by the head of the International Relations Committee, Gorden Moyo, and the MDC's document to be presented to the SADC leadership speaks on the reforms which should define the next elections so that Zimbabwe does not hold disputed elections again."
The MDC-Renewal is led by former MDC-T general secretary and GNU Minister of Finance, Tendai Biti and Elton Mangoma, himself a former GNU minister. The delegation to meet SADC leaders will be headed by Gorden Moyo, himself a former MDC-T Minister in the GNU.
For those of us who passionately believe that implementing the reforms necessary for holding free, fair and credible elections is the only way to peaceful end this corrupt and oppressive Zanu PF rule; this MDC-Renewal initiative should be welcome news. Sadly it is not because MDC-Renewal's commitment to implementing reforms, after the GNU debacle, is highly suspect!
Are the renewal team leaders really sincere in their demand for free and fair elections or this just another gimmick for them to get back into power and onto the gravy train? Last time they got into power they very quickly forgot about the reforms and free and fair elections.
Implementing the democratic reforms agreed in the GPA offered the best chance Zimbabwe has ever had since independence to completely dismantle the Zanu PF autocracy. MDC leaders, including those now leading the MDC Renewal Team, had five years to implement the reforms but failed to get even one reform implemented. Not even one!
During the GNU, SADC leaders reminded the MDC leaders to implement the reforms a thousand times but to no avail. In sheer exasperation the SADC leaders accused MDC leaders of "enjoying being in the GNU and forgetting why they were there"!
There was absolutely no logical reason why MDC leaders failed to implement the reforms necessary for free and fair elections other than the fact that they were easily bought off by Mugabe's trappings of power and that they are breathtakingly incompetent.
Ever since MDC lost the July 2013 rigged elections resulting in many of the party's leaders being kicked off the gravy train; these leaders have since woken up to the reality of not being on the gravy train anymore and have been doing everything they can to get back into power and back onto that gravy train! It was the fight for reforms that got them into political power last time and they are hoping taking up the fight again will once again propel them back into power and onto the gravy train.
The MDC-Renewal team's attempt to shift all blame for MDC-T's failure to implement even one reform during the NGU years on Tsvangirai's poor leadership qualities is despicable and an insult to the nation. The failure to implement the reforms was not a one afternoon or one month affair which they can claim not to have been aware of. The reform should have been implemented throughout the five year life of the GNU; everyone was aware the reforms were not being implemented and they all chose to do nothing about it.
The MDC-Renewal team leaders have not had any "Saul-on-road-to-Damascus" transformative moment other than being kicked off the gravy train. They are interested in the reforms as a means to get back on the gravy train. What the nation needs are leaders who will implement the reforms, dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship and derail the gravy train!
SADC leaders will not be so easily fooled by MDC-Renewal team's pretentious new zeal in democratic reforms and so too must the nation. MDC leaders from all the different factions have already proven that they are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent and therefore they are not to be trusted. Not ever!
