There are no squabbles in Zanu-PF

It is certainly worrisome that some sections of the media were recently awash with articles alleging that there are squabbles in the ruling party Zanu-PF.

I totally disagree with media reports that pronounce that there are conflicts between Zanu-PF political commissar comrade Saviour Kasukuwere and Manicaland Provincial leadership over nomination of primary candidates in the province. In fact I would rather call this mature ironing out of issues.

Also, Zanu-PF is a democratic party. Democracy rests upon the principles of majority rule and individual rights. Consequently, the party leaders should express their views freely for the smooth flow of the party's activities. Despite all the allegations and accusations that Zanu-PF encounters from some sections of the media, it is well known that analysis or criticism of someone's line of thinking is party of democracy. In most cases, mutual agreements are then reached well after arguments. Normally the final concord that comes out of two conflicting ideas is ideal.

It is of paramount importance to note that internal democracy is most required in the selection of candidates for elective positions; hence party leaders should air their views freely. Democracy does not split the party; instead it keeps the party united and strong.

Unlike other opposition political parties, which solve their party issues through violence, Zanu-PF has always shown that it is a mature political party. Hence, I am proud and prudent enough to declare how democracy prevails fully in the revolutionary party.

Intra party wrangles have the potential to assume either functional or dysfunctional outcomes. This usually depends on how the members in that variance perceive the disagreement and respond to it.

Functional variances engender creativity, positive growth and development, mutual understanding and healthy relationship between individuals in that political party.

The private media has for a long time attempted to make issues where indeed there are no issues regarding to the on-goings in the ruling party. Early this year, President Mugabe implored journalists to focus their attention on disseminating important issues rather than concentrating on petty matters. It is therefore disheartening that some sections of the media continue to publish articles that undermine and damage the position and image of the ruling party.

Last year, before its 6th National People's Congress, Zanu-PF managed to cleanse the rot of factionalism in the party. It was quite clear that factionalism was the major cause of squabbles in the ruling party. The fact that most elements who were promoting factionalism in Zanu-PF, mostly through sabotaging economic growth, were plugged off from executing party and government duties, gave the remaining party members an opportunity to work extremely hard in trying to rejuvenate the ailing economy.

With dedicated and committed party cadres in Zanu-PF, it is therefore believed that through their hard work, the economy will definitely be lifted to greater heights. Reports from some sections of the media have always wanted to disrupt the activities of the ruling party. However, the media should take note that Zanu-PF is now left with clean, loyal and disciplined party members who are patriotic.

It is strongly known that the media has always wanted to set an agenda for politicians and political parties. Political party internal wrangles are experienced in almost all political parties. On the other hand these wrangles are good as they pave way for internal party democracy as everyone's ideologies are taken note of.

Regionally, Nigeria has also experienced fundamental triggering of intra-party wrangles. Previous media reports state that scarcity of ideology and absence of internal democracy were the major causes of those disagreements in that West African country.

Truthfully, Zanu-PF leaders are loyal and disciplined. This makes the revolutionary party more united than ever.
