MDC-T vows to stage street demos demanding wishy-washy reforms - what a waste!

29 Oct 2015 at 06:13hrs | Views
Harare MDC-T Youth Assembly Secretary Denford Ngadziore told New Zimbabwe that MDC-T will be holding weekly street protest from now on.

They will be demanding from the Zanu PF regime to know what to Itai Dzamara, the journalist and human rights activist kidnapped early this year.

They will also be demanding that the regime keep its promise to create the 2.2 million new jobs and that it implements the electoral reforms.

"Let it be known that we will wait for the parliament's response and continue demanding electoral reforms," said Ngadziore.

Whilst all thinking Zimbabweans would happily join the MDC-T youths in the street over the first two demands none of them would want to be even associated with the third because it is a stupid demand. The electoral reforms they are calling for, even if Zanu PF implemented them, will deliver free, fair and credible elections.

Proposed amendments to the crucial Electoral Act now before the Zimbabwe parliament are "inadequate and incomplete," said Veritas a local think tank on legal matters two weeks ago.

If these MDC-T Youths had been paying any attention at all them they should remember that it was MDC leaders who promised the nation that the 2013 elections would be free, fair and credible we now know that they lied. SADC Heads warned the MDC leaders not to take part in the July 2013 elections without first implementing the 2008 GPA reforms but MDC leaders ignored the warning.

MDC-T is once again ignoring the GPA reforms in favour of these electoral reforms which Veritas, amongst many others, have already warned that they would not deliver the free and fair elections as MDC-T is promising afresh.

The key to solving Zimbabwe's economic meltdown and political paralysis is holding free, fair and credible elections, nothing of any substance will ever be accomplished until we rid ourselves of this corrupt and oppressive Zanu PF dictatorship.

To have free and fair elections we must implement the GPA reforms designed to dismantle the dictatorship and not some wishy-washy electoral reforms that will leave the dictatorship untouched!
