Civil servants not pawns

It's a fact that Zimbabwe is going through some challenges and the ZANU PF government has not buried its head in the sand as some are alleging. Government is seized with the matter of reviving the economy and it remains the number one priority.
The pockets of discontent which has been dubbed the "season of protest" so as to give them the lacking zest are nothing but a creation by regime change protagonists who seem to have realize they are clueless to remove ZANU PF from power by legal means.
Civil servants challenges especially the issue of their salaries seem to have become the rallying point to spark the envisaged Arab spring kind of protests that will unseat a duly elected government.
These are crying more than the bereaved on behalf of civil servants which has raised suspicion that to them civil servants' plight is a means to an nefarious end.
A cursory glance at the private media seem to confirm this development as some made headlines over the weekend in a bid to incite civil servants especially the armed forces that the government has failed to pay them on time for a second month in a row. Some have even go as far as concocting bogus pay schedule for civil servants for the month of July which has been circulating on social media and the minister of public service, Prisca Mupfumira has since dismissed them as mischievous.
In recent years, calls by opposition parties has largely been ignored and following the alleged success of Zimbabwe shutdown when regime change agents latched on a genuinely organized stay-away by civil servants, the issue of their salaries seem to have become the trigger to their lackluster campaign to ensure a successful government unseating.
Civil servants like any Zimbabwe don't want regime change pundits to manipulate their genuine concerns of their salaries to be used in this warped way. During the civil servants stay-away two weeks ago, the Apex Council leader, Mrs Cecilia Alexander distanced civil servants from other political agendas when she said: "The council informs the employer and the nation that the current civil service job is completely non-political and non-partisan and should be in no way be associated with the cause by other political and social groups whose agendas have nothing to do with our labour disputes with Government"
Government has already promised that it will pay civil servants in this month of July. Civil servants should refuse to be used by people with their own wicked agendas. The issue of their salaries remains a private matter between them and their employer.
