As Zanu-PF prepares to hold its Congress in December, a committee headed by party National Chairman Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo has been mandated to lead the preparations.
Kuda Bwititi spoke to Ambassador Khaya Moyo about the preparations for the forthcoming Congress.
Question: Zanu-PF has tasked you to lead a committee spearheading preparations for the Congress. Can you please explain to us the mandate of this committee and the work it has covered so far?
Ambassador Khaya Moyo: As National Chairman of Zanu-PF, I am also Chairman of the National Disciplinary Committee and Chairman of the National Elections Directorate, as per our Party's Constitution, Rules and Regulations.
The Party's Youth and Women's Conferences were recently concluded and we are now gearing ourselves for the National People's Congress to be held in December 2014. Preparations are underway.
Question: In line with the party's democratic practices, there are indications the Congress might, like the youth conference, see polls being conducted. What modalities are being put in place to govern eligible voters?
Ambassador Khaya Moyo: As I said earlier, preparations are underway and I do not want to cross the bridge prematurely.
We are a disciplined party and our operations are strictly guided by our Party's Constitution.
Question: Apart from the event being elective, what other issues are likely to come up for deliberation at Congress?
Ambassador Khaya Moyo: These will be unveiled as we move towards Congress. I can assure you that as a revolutionary Party, ZANU-PF does not dwell on tissues but on issues.
