Bosso takes on bogey side

HIGHLANDERS will fire from the first whistle when they take on bogey side Motor Action in Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches set for Barbourfields today in the afternoon.
For Highlanders who have been invincible at Emagumeni, the match is a tricky one and are not reading much into their opponent's 4-0 demolition by Harare City, a team they beat 2-0 two weeks back.
"It's only last year that we managed to contain Motor Action otherwise they have been giving us problems and as such we are taking this match very seriously and we did everything possible to make sure we collect maximum points," said Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu.
He said The Mighty Bulls are a good side with a beautiful brand of football which can only be ignored at one's peril.
"We are not reading much into their loss to Harare City," said Kaindu who is likely to welcome back gangly midfielder Bhekimpilo Ncube.
Ncube has been out injured for more than a month together with Beavan Chikaka as well as young Mgcini Sibanda. Vice skipper Erick Mudzingwa also picked up an injury in the season opener against Shabanie Mine but is making steady progress.
"Ncube has been training with us for about three weeks now while Chikaka started last week. We are happy with the progress so far," said the Zambian-born mentor.
He said Ncube might make the grade today depending on how he would have responded to the team tactics.
With Motor Action having one of the most imposing and longest serving goalkeeper in the country in Marlon Jani, Highlanders, with the shortest of strikers in Njabulo Ncube and Graham Ncube will be better advised to desist from relying on aerial balls and crosses but try to tame the bull from the centre.
Former Soccer Star of the Year Louis Matawu makes a return to Barbourfields Stadium and will be the main man to worry about in midfield and his duel with midfield general Mthulisi Maphosa will certainly be an interesting one.
While Munyaradzi Diya made some crucial serves in Bosso's last home match against Harare City which endeared him with supporters, it is the lack of tight marking from the Highlanders defence and sometimes the midfield that gave the visitors some acres of space and time to shoot from afar. With close monitoring such situations are not likely to happen.
The Highlanders and Motor Action match will be on SuperSport 9 channel at 5pm.
