PREMIER Soccer League 2013 championship runners-up Highlanders are likely to retain the services of crack midfielders Peter "Rio" Moyo and Milton Ncube following assurances from the duo's representative, Amin Soma-Phiri.
The two players are in South Africa with the national senior men's team at the African Nations Championship (Chan) finals and had reportedly pledged to sign new contracts with the club after the tournament that ends on February 1.
The two players are among several players at the club whose contracts expired on December 31, 2013. In an interview on Friday Soma-Phiri, who could neither deny nor confirm that the players would stay put at Highlanders, however, said that he was confident the boys would put pen to paper on their return from Mzansi.
Soma-Phiri insinuated that everything was in the hands of the Bosso executive to retain the services of the duo.
"What I can tell you is that the boys are not going anywhere. As Big Eleven, we respect Highlanders and have a cordial relationship with the team," he said.
Soma-Phiri is the founder of Big Eleven FC which plies its trade in the ZIFA Bulawayo Province Division Two league.
Highlanders chairman Peter Dube confirmed everything was in order for the return of the two players. He said they were on the same page with Phiri as far as negotiations were concerned and what was left was for the players to append their signatures to the contracts.
