The Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Andrew Langa has congratulated the Warriors for a historic progression into the quarter-finals of the African Nations Championship after they beat Burkina Faso 1-nil in the final group match at Athlone stadium in Cape Town last night.
The man at the helm of managing sports in Zimbabwe, Langa, woke up holding his vuvuzela to continue blowing the celebrations of the Warriors' historic feat of progressing into the CHAN quarter-finals.
A jubilant Minister Langa congratulated the coach Ian Gorowa and his team for coming to the party when the nation expected them to do so.
He said that achievement should be complimented by moral and financial support from all Zimbabweans, adding government will certainly seat down to look at what incentive to award the team.
"When we wanted them to stand up as the Warriors they did so. They played as a team, well coordinated, and the half time talk certainly changed things. We are so happy and we want congratulate them.
"Now we need to give them all the moral support and to the companies now its time we come out and give them good incentives," said Cde Langa.
While Zimbabweans bask in the glory of success, South Africa's Minister of Sport Fikile Mbalula lambasted the Bafana Bafana national team labelling the players as 'losers' and ‘mediocre' following their early exit from the tournament.
The Warriors, who remain unbeaten against Burkina Faso, will now play Mali in the quarter-finals set for Saturday, not only representing Zimbabwe, but the entire Southern Africa region and there is hope that the majority of supporters will be rooting for Gorowa's charges.
Zimbabwe now remain as the only Southern African candidate in the on going African Nations Championships.
