Pasuwa quits national team

CALLISTO Pasuwa has ended his turbulent reign as the Warriors' and Young Warriors' coach citing Zifa's lack of professionalism as the major reason.
Pasuwa quit soon after the Young Warriors were walloped 3-0 by their South African counterparts in the second leg of the African Championship in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday to bow out 4-1 on aggregate.
Having already secured a spot for the Young Warriors at next month's Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville, Pasuwa said Zifa must now look elsewhere for someone to lead the teams.
"I'm definitely stepping down as the national teams' coach. It's a decision that I made last week after seeing that Zifa weren't serious about my welfare. Honestly speaking, I didn't have a contract with them and every time I sought audience with them, they gave me fake promises. How do they expect me to survive? I've been demanding that they give me a contract so that I know how much I earn and how much they owe me, but to this day nothing has materialised," said Pasuwa.
"I'm tired and I feel it's not fair to me and the nation that every time there is a national team assignment, one day I'm in and the other I'm out I've served my country with honour and pride and it hurts me that I'm leaving at a time when we were doing a good development project with the current Under-23s."
Last week, Pasuwa walked out of the Young Warriors camp during preparations for the crucial African Championship against South Africa protesting over non-payment of his salary and allowances.
He returned to camp on Thursday evening after players made a plea to him to finish off Amaglug-glug.
