Former ZBC Radio presenter Eric Knight has taken his time to remember his late father Lazarus Saruff Knight who passed away sometime in 1998.
The United Kingdom based broadcaster said on July 27 1998 is the day when he lost his father.
"I just want to honour and remember my dad, Lazarus Saruff Knight who went to be with the Lord on the 27th of July 1998," he said.
"This is where we laid him to rest in Zimbabwe. A very cool and cunning man. Dad was the eldest of the boys in their family but the least talkative, a man who never spoke much but only spoke when it mattered."
He said his father was a man who had a sense of dignity and would avoid conflict at all costs. Incredibly popular in his circles which consisted both the young and the old.
"I remember when I was with him he would not tire to answer greetings from people saying 'Mudhara Knight muribhoo?' One day I recall he actually said to me, 'Ungazivikanwe muno mu Harare kudarika ini iwewe" when I asked him where all these people knew him from. On behalf of the huge Knight clan, we will forever cherish your matchless sense of humour. Look over us Baba. God bless you! God bless Zimbabwe! God bless Africa," he said.
