MDC Renewal Team should focus on peace building and national economic planning not Zanu-PF battles, says MDC Renewal Team interim president, Senator Sekai Holland.
In a statement released today, Holland called on the Renewal Team to focus on national interests such as economic, social and political development.
The call comes at a time there is serious infighting within Zanu-PF along factional lines, while the MDC-T was pushing for the recall of 18 Members of Parliament who jumped ship and joined the Renewal Team.
"However, the security, political, economic and social survival of the ordinary people is at high risk because of the Zanu-PF infighting which has reached alarming and deplorable levels," said Holland in the statement.
In the same statement, Tendai Biti, the Renewal Team secretary general, took a swipe at the Zanu-PF government which he blamed for ‘the average 4 000 deaths of people per week due to failure by the government of the day to concentrate on improving the economy including the health and social sectors'.
Biti said: "As Zimbabweans we have endured 34 years of poverty and suffering because Robert Mugabe is a specialist of failure and as a result the nation has lost more than three decades owing to a poor leadership in Zimbabwe.
"Instead of conferring his wife, Grace, with a doctorate degree, Mugabe was supposed to confer himself with a Masters' degree in failure."
Elton Mangoma, MDC Renewal Team treasurer general, said the next MDC Renewal Team government would first look into the plight of the poor and the majority of the people ahead of any other luxuries.
"The current Zanu-PF indigenisation policy is aimed at expanding inequality by further enriching only the few elite in Zanu-PF," said Mangoma.
Mangoma called on Mugabe to apologise for murdering people during the Gukurahundi and Operation Murambatsvina.
Tsvangirai was also urged to apologise for what Mangoma called failure to deliver real change.
