The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) has condemned in strongest terms the arrest of War Veterans leadership for denouncing and rejecting Robert Mugabe and his entire clueless Zanu PF Lieutenants.
In a statement the MDC spokesperson Kurauone Chihwayi said this is a serious violation and wrong interpretation of the Zimbabwe Constitution by the Zimbabwe Republic Police and Zanu PF's G40 group.Zimbabwe is in a crisis that may explode if the attack on civil liberties continue unabated.
"Zanu PF is now dead and at an advanced stage of decomposition and only a miracle will inject life for it to resurrect. The nation has lost confidence in the country's security sector that has been thrown into the center of Zanu PF's fractious fights," he said.
"We are urging Robert Mugabe to stop arm twisting Zimbabweans into another marriage of convenience with him for purposes of sending a wrong perception to the International community. Zimbabweans are currently speaking and will continue to speak in clear tongues calling or advising him to step down unconditionally."
He said the call by Civic society and political groups in Zimbabwe for Mugabe to step down is now deafening for Robert Gabriel Mugabe to ignore.
"Dr Joshua Nkomo, Mayor Urimbo, Herbert Chitepo, Josiah Magama Tongogara, Smokey Jecherere and others must be turning in their graves since the Zanu PF administration is an opposition of a democratic governing party," he said.
"The brutal attack on the leadership of the authentic Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association is an insult to all genuine liberators of our motherland. We are calling on Mugabe to release the War Veterans leadership caged for exercising their democratic right."
He said the people of Zimbabwe are now ready to die for their country and no amount of intimidation or tactics will stop the demand for a democratic leadership
