ZANU PF not concerned with citizens welfare - MDC

The MDC has told the ruling Zanu PF to admit failure as the country's economic crisis bite.
MDC National Spokesperson Kurauone Chihwayi the country is in shambles, the quality of life of millions of ordinary Zimbabweans continues to deteriorate to unacceptable levels.
"The economic woes of ordinary Zimbabweans are not abating. Confidence in our economic and political system is at an all-time low and we have becoming the joke of the international community. All this points to a government that has absolutely no capacity to take bold and transformative measures that will take the nation out of this cesspit it created," he said.
"It has become increasingly crucial and urgent for the ZANU PF government to acknowledge that it does not have the capacity to arrest the deterioration in the country and begin to engage all stakeholders to find a national consensus on the way forward, given our constitutional framework."
He said these stakeholders must include political leaders from opposition parties, ZANU PF itself, churches, civil society organisations and other groups in order to provide an alternative road map for the country.
"The ostrich approach of ZANU PF in the face of the loud and clear voice of Zimbabweans, including war veterans demanding change, can only take us backward as a nation. What has for a long time been clear is that ZANU PF does not care about the welfare of the people, but only about retaining power," Chihwayi said.
"Let Zimbabweans be alive and vigilant to the fact that ZANU PF has failed on all fronts to provide leadership through the adoption of weak, anti -people policies and reckless acts that have put corruption, violence, intolerance and impunity at the centre of our politics."
He said the current wave of civil unrest and impending social implosion triggered by the incessant despair of suffering Zimbabweans only serves to highlight that our democracy and wellbeing are not safe in the hands of ZANU PF.
"In our view, the moment a government is unable to guarantee the security of its citizens, then that government loses the moral authority to move the country forward or to be obeyed. It therefore remains imperative that as opposition forces we accept the need to join forces so that we defeat ZANU PF from one strong corner come 2018," he said.
