Higher Education minister Jonathan Moyo has again defied veteran ruler President Robert Mugabe's plea for Zanu PF members not to settle scores using social media platforms.

On Friday in Masvingo, Mugabe said a discipline was rife in the party.

"As a party we must always speak with one voice and to our leaders, we do not run or organise matters of the party or settle our grievances through Twitter and Facebook," Mugabe told the conference attended by thousands of party representatives from the country's 10 provinces.

"There are organs which follow rules and procedures of how things should be done and no one person should stand up and say 'I want things done this way'".

However, on Sunday Moyo had other ideas almost indirectly telling Mugabe to go hang as he continued to attack his party rivals.

He posted  on his official twitter account, "All around the world in democratic and even in autocratic States, use of corrupt pretexts to arrest or jail opponents makes perfect boomerangs.

"Does @HeraldZimbabwe and its secessionist handlers really believe they are not settling party matters on Twitter and abusing social media.

"It's simple. If @HeraldZimbabwe and other @Zimpapers outfits continue to abuse Twitter and other social media, they will get robust responses".

Mugabe's Twitter dig was likely aimed at members of G40, Zanu-PF's so-called Young Turks who are keen to push themselves into position to succeed Mugabe when and if he dies or steps down.

Moyo is active, vocal and at times critical of other party officials on Twitter (he has 105K followers).

Local Government Minister Saviour Kasukuwere tweets slightly less than Moyo, but still has 60.1K followers.

G40's rivals are the faction of the ruling party led by Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

This is a grouping of mostly older officials who are less visible on social media but who have a strong voice in the official Herald newspaper, which falls under their control.
