Prophet Trevor Gohori pose for a photo after getting married
A 35-year-old Makokoba woman suffered Valentine's Day heartbreak on Friday after her husband married another woman at the Bulawayo Magistrate Court.
The woman, who preferred to be identified only as NaAngel, tried to storm the court to disrupt proceedings but was held back by police officers.
Inside, Trevor Gohori, 35, was exchanging vows with Zanele Nkala, 38.
NaAngel, from Makokoba suburb told Chronicle that her "husband had just married another woman and they have since left for Centenary Park for photos."
"I tried to stop the marriage but police officers chucked me out, accusing me of making noise."
NaAngel said Gohori, a prophet at Chitenderano Apostolic Church, used to pray for her previous relationship that later fell apart after he impregnated her and promised to marry her.
They have a seven-month-old child together and NaAngel says Gohori went through the cultural rites to ask for her hand in marriage, including paying lobola.
She says he spent several nights at her house every week and would leave on church missions.
"This man used to be my trusted prophet and I frequented his home seeking prayers together with my ex-boyfriend," she told Chronicle outside court.
"With time, I somehow lost interest in my boyfriend and fell in love with him. I suspect he used a love portion on me but he just dumped me for an older woman," she said.
She claimed Gohori was "heartless" for pressuring her to break her earlier relationship only to dump her on Valentine's.
NaAngel broke down as she narrated how she met Gohori only last Thursday and he had professed undying love for her and blamed members of his church for meddling in their relationship.
She also accused police officers of having a hand in her misfortune.
"These police officers interfered with my right to object to this marriage going ahead. I will not rest until justice is rendered because this marriage means I will become a destitute with my child," she said.
The news crew caught up with the woman outside the court as she confronted police officers who had chucked her out.
NaAngel remonstrated with police officers outside court, yelling at one: "Were you bribed?"
One officer shot back: "You slept with a married man whose wife was away. You can't blame me if he got married to her.
"I was told you were a nuisance and I did my job as a police officer."
Gohori had left the courts and could not be reached on his mobile phone which was constantly off.
