The serial rapist who was last week described as "every woman's nightmare" by a magistrate, was today convicted of a further 15 counts of rape and robbery.
Vusumuzi Sibanda (34) of Bulawayo's Pumula suburb was last week sentenced to 23 years in prison a spree of rape and robberies he committed in the city.
Senior regional Magistrate Mark Dzira will sentence Sibanda tomorrow.
Sibanda pleaded with the court to grant him a suspended sentence saying he was already serving a long jail term.
He said he needed to get out of prison and see his children before he died of old age.
Sibanda accused police of pinning the aggravated rape and robbery cases on him to clear their crime backlog.
Prosecuting, Tinashe Dzipe said Sibanda deserved the maximum sentence the court could mete out because he committed the crimes callously with no regard for his victims.
Sibanda ran out of luck when police caught him red-handed about to rape a woman in Queenspark.
He had ordered the woman to open her legs so he could 'inspect her private parts' while he held a knife to her throat.
The police who were trailing him following a tip off, burst in and caught him in the act.
On 15 January this year, Sibanda allegedly raped a 14-year-old school girl at knife point.
On 20 January, he allegedly entered a house in Queenspark after finding the door unlocked and raped a 31 year old woman.
He then struck the woman with a stone on the forehead, stabbed her on the arm and stole an LG phone.
On 29 January 29, a woman from Kingsdale escaped naked after Sibanda tried to rape her at knife point in her home.
The victim later identified Sibanda at a police identification parade
On May 13 last year Sibanda robbed a 28-year-old woman along a footpath that links Queenspark East and Kingsdale suburbs before raping her.
He used the same method to rape at least six other women.
